- Who can join SCSME?
- Malaysian registered small and medium enterprises across any industry. Applications are reviewed by the committee before membership is confirmed.
- What does membership include?
- An official place in the community, a discoverable trilingual business profile, product and service listings, a QR profile and generated catalogue, access to RFQs and opportunity alerts, events and event matchmaking, member deals and analytics showing what your membership produced.
- What is verification, and how is it different from membership?
- Membership means your business has been admitted to the association. Verification means SCSME has reviewed evidence for a specific claim — that you are a supplier, a manufacturer, OEM-capable, export-ready, or hold a particular certification. They are separate records. Paying a fee never produces a verification badge.
- How long does approval take?
- Applications are reviewed by the secretariat and then the committee. The secretariat will confirm the current turnaround when your application is received.
- Can I update my profile?
- Yes. Members manage their own profile, products, services, images and deals from the member dashboard. Material changes to verified claims are re-checked before the badge is retained.
- What happens if my membership expires?
- Your membership enters a grace period during which you can still sign in and renew, and your business profile stays online. After the grace period ends the active member badge is removed and plan features stop, but your profile, history and analytics are never deleted.
- How do RFQs work?
- A buyer posts a requirement. SCSME reviews it, then matching member businesses are invited to respond. Buyer contact details are shared with invited and responding suppliers, not published on the public page.
- What are Visibility Credits?
- Credits fund optional promotional placements — a sponsored slot in search, a spotlight on a category page, a featured position in a newsletter. Sponsored placements are always labelled, and they have no effect whatsoever on organic ranking.
- Can corporate buyers join?
- Yes. Corporate buyers get free basic access to search verified businesses, save and compare suppliers, and post requirements. Verified corporate buyers get advanced filters, shortlists and managed sourcing.
- Is SCSME an ecommerce checkout marketplace?
- No. SCSME helps buyers and suppliers find each other and start a conversation. Transactions happen directly between the businesses involved.
- How is my data used?
- Your application data is used to assess membership and to build your public business profile. Identity documents and verification files are stored privately, are never included in analytics, and are only accessible to authorised SCSME staff.
